Dipping some more from A BUCKET OF BLOOD

Earlier this afternoon here at the station we aired Roger Corman's 1959 movie A Bucket of Blood.

Well, I've got it playing off the Tivo right now... for the second time since it first ran today.

This movie has already gained a hideous hold on me. I can't believe I've never seen or heard about this before (especially since it stars Dick Miller). This is the kind of weird/funny that's sooo up my alley!

I might have to add A Bucket of Blood to my DVD collection sometime.

EDIT 10:33 PM EST: Watching it again. There's a 2-hour block of programming that we've been running on repeat since 7 tonight, and all I'm really doing is waiting to hear from any church cancellations that might happen 'cuz of the winter storm we're expected to get hit with later tonight. Those haven't come in yet... so once more, to kill time until the end of the shift, I've got A Bucket of Blood running again. Think the funniest part is where Dick Miller kills Bert Convy with the frying pan :-P

You've got to get up to speed here with your knowledge of cult/drive in movie classics :-). I dont call myself "bmovies" for nothing. ;-)

I've known about the existence of this movie for many, MANY years. I first bought it on videotape through mail order (from: Sinister Cinema. A mail order outfit that still exists) somewhere around 12-15 years ago.

Though I'm glad to see you know all about Dick Miller. It's surprising as to what movies he pops up in. I mean, I'm watching a low budget drive in (non-Roger Corman) flick from the mid sixties, and he'll pop up in small role.

Ski Party, Girls on the Beach, etc.

Another cult movie character actor you need to familiarize with: Bruno Vesota

And Arch Hall, Jr.

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0355246/

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arch_Hall_Jr.

And director Herschell Gordon Lewis:

Herschell's finest film, in my opinion, is Two Thousand Maniacs:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0058694/

You MUST see that film.

And other films you need to know about:

Little Shop of Horrors (I'm ASSUMING that you already know about that one, but I'm talking about the 1960 version. Not the musical 1986 remake). And you must see Arch Hall, Jr. in The Choppers, Wild Guitar, Eegah, and The Sadist (his other two films, Nasty Rabbit and Deadwood are absolutely boring. Avoid them) The Choppers will have Bruno Vesota in it as "Moose".

Here are the addresses of two DVD/video companies that specialize in these type of films.

Sinister Cinema:

Something Weird Video

Sinister Cinema used to be king of the hill (I loved their double drive in classics. Two movies, short subjects, intermission advertisements, and trailers all on one videoc assette). But then DVD came along and Sinister dragged their feet into making the crossover. Many of their films are still not available on DVD. While Something Weird immediately made the crossover to DVD, PLUS adding all sorts of rare extras on their DVDs like actor and/or director commentaries, trailers, radio spots, short subjects, etc.
