(Yes, I admit that I'm watching Robertson's show tonight on WGSR, 'cuz more than a few people suggested that after the video I posted in response to last week's show, that he might use it tonight. So far I haven't seen it.)
Mr. Robertson, God does not care which "church" we belong to! God is not interested one bit whether we are "Church of Christ" (I'm going to start calling the bunch that broadcasts on WGSR Star 39 as "Church Of Christ In Name Only" or "COCINO" for short to differentiate it from the real Church of Christ, the independent congregations sincerely trying to serve God that most people have heard of) or Baptist or Pentecostal or Catholic or Methodist, or any other denomination...
God does care about whether or not we are seeking for Him, whether we honestly want Him. And that seeking for God is not dependent upon which doctrine we follow or how strenuously we adhere to it.
As I said in my original post, we are saved by the grace of God. And I haven't heard Robertson touch on that at all.
And God doesn't give a flip about what we wear to church either. If things were the way Robertson was claiming tonight, nobody would get into Heaven! What Robertson was arguing is, in effect, "conditional repentance".
There's another wrong aspect of what Robertson said about one's attire in church: it's as if the church building itself is imbued with some kind of power. More shades of Gnosticism there, as was mentioned in the earlier post.
Talk about hypocrisy: Robertson spent a good part of his show tonight condemning some churches for buying expensive buildings. When he and his bunch spend several thousands of dollars a month to broadcast... well, hatred toward other Christians. Robertson even publicly offered $1,000 last summer to anyone who could meet his challenge on something or other (I forget the exact details at the moment).
One last thing: Johnny Robertson, if you are reading this...
Miracles still happen.

Complaining about people who don't dress nice for church.
I am a member of the Church of Christ (COC). Your comments really backs that we need to study our bibles. There is one bible which teaches us of ONE FAITH, ONE BODY and ONE BAPTISM. Question: If there is only one, why are there so many versions of faith, the body and baptism's? God has only ONE BRIDE which is his church. Please study to show yourself approved and stop going off of feeling and emotions. You either believe the bible or you don't. We can't pick and choose the portions of the bible that fit our agendas.
I say this out of concern...not of anger.

Are there many versions of faith in Christ? Are there REALLY?
Please think about that before trying to answer it.
But try not to think of it in man's terms. Because it is in the nature of man to both divide and coalesce per his corrupted nature. And that is not God's fashion at all.
Indeed, scripture is quite clear that God DOES NOT demand that we belong to a certain congregation or be baptised according to a particular formula in order to be saved.
In the perspective of the Church of Christ broadcasting on WGSR, as a denomination claiming spiritual superiority over not just those outside of the church but over fellow believers in Christ also, you WANT to see "many versions" of faith, of the body, and of baptism.
The Church Of Christ In Name Only (COCINO) that is active in this area sees "many versions" of Christian faith, because it WANTS to see them. This is how the COCINO establishes its identity... because it has not established it in faith in Christ alone. Instead it has turned away from faith and toward doctrine. It is doctrine devoid of love for others, which is a useless thing.
I don't claim to have all the answers. And neither can you. The grace of God and His overwhelming glory and mercy is something that none of us can possibly comprehend in our earthly life. As such, I cannot possibly believe that a single church or denomination can claim to have the market cornered on salvation. Christ made salvation available to all, the only requirement being to ask for it, and God in His grace will give to all who come to Him. Baptism is not needed to be saved. Neither is belong to "the right kind" of denomination.
So again, I must ask: how is the Church of Christ that is operating in the Reidsville, Martinsville, and Danville area acting in humility when its members lash out at others so vehemently, and how is this showing devotion toward Christ and serving others in love as He taught us to?
I wonder if there is some signicance to the term COCINO in all of this. I looked it up, and that's the Spanish word for a "Cook".
Chris you are a true contender for the faith but not you or anyone will persuade Johnny Robertson and his Church of Christ nuts about their misguided beliefs. Opposing them will make it worse because they think you're persecuting them thus being vindication for them. Let God throw them into the fire with all the other chaff.
just so you know..Johnny challenged anyone to show where the "sinner's prayer" is in the Bible. Which no one has been able to do yet! you cant simpley walk around doing whatever you want and proclaim you believe and be saved. its not that easy...nor should it be. Read the Book of Acts2:37 Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” 38 And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.” 40 And with many other words he bore witness and continued to exhort them, saying, “Save yourselves from this crooked generation.” 41 So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls."-----to those who do not believe baptism is essential---you mean to tell me that if you were standing there that day in front of Peter asking what you should do to be saved, you would tell him "nah...i dont believe i need to do that"" ..think about it!
Johnny gives it to you straight.....He knows his stuff...and no- miracles do not still happen today. Read your Bible. Miracles, healing and demonstration was done in the New Testement to COMFIRM THE WORD!!! Jesus healed all who were brought to him...he didnt pick and choose. Many of the carasmatic movement today will tell you that if want to be healed (falling under miralces) and you arent..you must not believe....That is false!Jesus healed all who were brought... ..again..those things were done to confirm the word....once jesus died, we no longer need the confirmation. that is what the BIBLE is for. Many people now days pick parts of the scripture to "justify" why they drink, break the law, and do other things. I would suggest to those who do this to study more!!! God Bless Johnny Robertson!

Because it's not in the Bible, as Mr. Robertson asserts. I've never been able to find it either...
...but to offer $1000 to anyone who can find it was extremely tacky. It showed that Robertson was more interested in asserting his "in your face" personal doctrine than he was with displaying the humble and graceful character that those in Christ are supposed to have.
Ask yourself this "anonymous" (BTW, how's the weather in the midwest today?): why should anyone not in Christ watch Johnny Robertson's antics and those of the rest of this local so-called "Church of Christ" and be convinced, at all, of the reality of Christ? Because these people are not showing Christ to those who are dying without Him! Johnny Robertson and these other guys are demonstrating that they DO NOT CARE about other people! They only care about their worthless doctrine, which can not save. It's only by the grace of God that we are saved, not whether we follow the rules or some formula.

Well, it's not mentioned in the Bible anywhere that Peter was even baptized with water, anyway.
What's that? "Of course he was baptized!" How do we know that though? We don't know that Peter was baptized per the Church of Christ's standards any more than we know that the original church used musical instruments, because we aren't told that they didn't use them in the Bible, either.
If the "Church Of Christ In Name Only" is going to demand that there be no instruments in its music services because they weren't discussed in New Testament scripture, then why should I believe that baptism is required for salvation if Peter wasn't baptized, either?

So just because there are today some who claim miracles that are false, this invalidates every miracle that happens today, even though real miracles would never happen under such pretenses?
Again, you are making your doctrine too big and God too small.
