Harry: "Did you know, sir ... then?"Dumbledore: "Did I know I'd just met the most dangerous dark wizard of all time? No."
Our first look at the child Tom Riddle. And Dumbledore fights the Inferi.
This one is gonna hurt when it comes to theaters this fall. Can't wait!
Its been a little while since I've read the book, but I don't remember that in there. I really hope they aren't going to go away from the book or at least not too much.
ReplyDeleteCrystal, I don't think there was anything in the trailer that wasn't in the book. The *one* thing that I'm not entirely sure about is the shot of Ginny (the one of her standing in her bathrobe). But the flashback/memory of Dumbledore visiting the young Tom Riddle/Voldemort was definitely in the book :-)
ReplyDeleteThis movie looks like it is going to be fantastic. I am more excited for this than I have ever been for a Harry Potter film. I loved what David Yates did with Order of the Phoenix and Half-Blood Prince looks like a nice follow-up. The trailer is downright spooky and I can't wait to see it on the big screen this Friday with The Mummy: Tomb Of Jet Li (or whatever the title really is). From that short clip, I think Hero Feinnes does a fantastic job of conveying the creepiness of young Tom Riddle.
ReplyDelete"I talk to snakes, too. They find me... whisper things."
I don't remember that in the book, but I don't care. That is one of the darkest things I've heard come out of a child's mouth, and if I were Albus Dumbledore, I would have realized right then that the boy could grow to be the darkest wizard of all time.
Oh, I am getting wayyy too worked up over this! :-D
ReplyDeleteIn the book, young Tom mentions that he can talk to snakes, although I don't know if he says "whisper things" ... don't have my copy here at work to check. But Dumbledore tells Harry that "in fact, his ability to communicate with serpents did not trouble me nearly as much as his obvious instincts for cruelty, secrecy and domination" and explains that with this knowledge he, unlike the other teachers (none of whom had the benefit of that information), "did not take it for granted that [Tom] was trustworthy".
What I find interesting is that that memory of Dumbledore's was not "the most important memory". But I won't spoil that, for anyone who hasn't read the books, by explaining what was ;)
It's speculated that the Ginny shot comes from an attack-on-the-Burrow scene which has been added to the movie (NOT in the book ... we'll see how that goes.) But that's just speculation.
