Murrill McLean FIRED!! Danville cop who murdered dachshund is out of a job!!

Remember Murrill McLean, the Danville Police Department officer who a month ago shot and killed a tiny miniature dachshund that was only barking at him?

Here is "big bad" Murrill McLean...

And here is a photo of the late mini dachshund "Killer" that McLean terminated...

Well, guess what folks?

Murrill McLean has been FIRED from the Danville Police Department by Chief Phillip Broadfoot!

Incidentally, The Knight Shift was the first source that publicly broke the pictures of Murrill McLean hefting his heavy hardware. After the photos of McLean were published here they wound up widely disseminated among the mainstream press (and were also stolen for broadcast use on WGSR by general manager Charles Roark without attribution... and yeah I've got the proof of him visiting this blog to nab 'em too. But then he's a well-known kleptomaniac anyway...).

So, for this time at least, justice is served, and a member of law enforcement who abused the power entrusted him has been punished.

May other cops across America take something from this example.

  2. 1. Hello again (Shawn) Paden, of the "Church of Christ" cult.

    2. "just a dog"? How very sensitive and humane of you.

    3. Roark visits this blog quite often. Heck, I've got his IP logs on hand if anyone wants to see.

Once again (Shawn) Paden, you = epic fail.

  8. Thank goodness that common sense prevailed! McLean should never be a police officer again!

HILARIOUS! I guess you own exclusive rights to the pictures? Did you credit where you scarfed them from? No? HAHAHA!

Well Chris said then he found them on ex-officer McLean's Facebook and Flickr pages. It is on the original links. So you don't know what you are talking about.

  11. Looks like "the Dope in Dobson" engaged his mouth before he engaged his brain (again).

One of the biggest rules of good journalism: document and attribute everything if at all possible.

As offbeat and unorthodox as this blog admittedly is (perhaps more than a little reflective of the mindset of the author behind it), that's one rule that I do not violate. For many reasons: ethical, historical, but also because it makes good sense to make sure that what you write can hold up under scrutiny.

I did disclose at the time the source of the photos. This blog just happened to have been the first to have thought to have looked in the obvious places ;-)

    Right......

I guess maybe the news media should have given you credit for snatching them off Facebook? Hell, Chris, Google McLean and you can get his home phone number from where he tried to sell some junk a few months back.

Interesting that you crave the credit for something they (the media) already knew how to do, Charles too probably to be truthful.

Gore invented the Internet and you invented journalism ethics.

In our time, we're truly in the midst of greatness.

I may suck at sarcasm, I guess it depends on individual interpretation.

We all can't be the grand dragon of the keystroke AND master of journalistic and broadcasting ethics like you, Chris.

All of us are unworthy to stand in the midst of such greatness. I'm in awe.

  18. Paden, a word from the wise.

Go the grammar school, learn how to write proper English, and then you will have a snowball's chance in hell of any of us caring what you have to say.

  19. Chief Broadfoot should be FIRED! He took up for McLean from day one during TWO press conferences even and this was clearly 'cover my ass'. Real justice would be everyone on Danville PD involved in this lose their badges.

  20. I was tickled to read about this in the News and Record yesterday, Chris and thought about YOU as soon as I saw the article. I am so glad this guy got fired. More importantly, the investigation revealed that the shooter made misleading and inaccurate statements in his rendition of the shooting. The shooters supervisor did NOT follow the standard operations and immediately came to the defense of the officer without taking in all of the facts.

I understand loyalty for oworkers, but these are also public servants. This supervisor should have taken an 'objective' stance rathter than a defensive stance. Good for Danville for doing the right thing.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Hey Matt,

Why does (Shawn) Paden keep talking about being in school? I mean, that's making him look even WORSE! And hey, I was instructing my *teacher* about quantum mechanics in 2nd grade, was a published writer multiple times over at 15 (the same age that "Paden" alleges to be) and got Eagle Scout at 17.

What's this loser Paden got? "im a bad riter becaws im in school!"?! LOL!! :-P

  23. dude im not shawn paden im 15 and ill be a sophmore in high school this year and my specialty lies in math and science not all grammer even though i do judt fine in it and your little eagle scout comment if i wasnt so busy in the school uear with sports because i also play varsity basckettball and tennis i would have already been an aegle scout but all i lack is my family life merit badge and project so im currently a life scout and

  24. hey chris how succesful are you today because i maty be wrong but you seem like the kinda guy who plays to many video games and watches tomany movies and is on the computer to much but idk you may be a pretty succesful guy but quantem mechanics isnt even brought up in 2nd grade so if you knew a few things about it and told your teacher doesnt prove much because if you were that smart you should have skiped a few grades and it is rarely that someone who is so good in english is near as good in math

    ReplyDelete
  25. If Chris is on the computer too much, then why the hell doesn't he have a single double post, while you have posted in a row three times?

  26. because i remeber something i want to say that i didnt say previously and hey man calm down no need for the language

  27. Language? What language?

And besides. I am quite calm. :)

And this is the last of my discussion with you. I don't like to feed trolls.

  29. If kris was half as smart as he thinks he is he would not be living Red Neck Reidsville N.C , sitting in an apartment all day playing games & trolling the internet.

  30. hey chris why do you drink alchohaloac beverages and cuss does the bible not say to be sober and let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth

    ReplyDelete
  31. "but quantem mechanics isnt even brought up in 2nd grade"

    You're right. It's not.

What can I say? I read a lot as a child. And I mean a lot.

In the same grade I also educated my fellow young classmates about how babies don't come from the stork, but instead from when the father's sperm cell fertilizes the mother's egg cell...

I'm telling y'all here and now, my teacher had quite some questions to ask my mom later that afternoon.

(And there is usually a correlating degree of literary skill accompanying math and science, so again your identity is quite suspect (Shawn) Paden.)

  32. "hey chris why do you drink alchohaloac beverages and cuss does the bible not say to be sober and let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth"

Hey, what else can I say? I'm not perfect and I rely on the grace of God, and it's been more than enough to keep the occasional indulgence from becoming an obstacle in my faith.

Yeah (Shawn) Paden, it's that "grace" thing. You might oughtta try it sometime!

  34. time out do you rely think im shawn paden are you saying that i sound like a preacher if so thank you being as that im only 15 and by the way i live in west texas and do not know johny personaly and when you were in 2nd grade sounds like you were book smart wich helps in some subjects but not math and your comment rely about grace rely disturbes being that you never came into contact with the grace of God in the first place but never the less to do something persistently thats a sin and you know it is and you expect to be covered by the grace of God is a false view God will not forgive someone unless they are truly trying to live a faithfull life and turn away from sin and to be forgiven of something that you already new was a sin you must go to him in prayer not just oh my bad the grace of God will cover that for me and go on acting like every thing is good i mean comon man why dont you quite the foolishness and aproach the stuff johny has to say or james oldfiels has to say or i have to say or anything the bible has to say or what the church of christ has to say with an open mind you see your mind is closed and not open to anything you see your noyt studing to show yourself approved or searching for truth let me tell you i will always try and listen to someones elses points on something as well as compare mine even though i already have 100% confidence on that the church of christ is the church of the bible it is the only one that follows the bible correctly and its the only one going to heaven and thats fact the argument is then wich is the church of christ and i am 100% its the one that calls themselves that but not all that call themselves that are

  38. I heard former DPD officer McLean is appealing - on a different note, I read your Sophie Scholl review the other day. Thanks! I didn't know it was available in the US. I first heard of her a year ago or so. I've known of Dietrich Bonhoeffer (he was a childhood hero of mine) and Stauffenberg for many years, but had never heard of her.

  39. Here in the UK we forget that we have some of the best and brightest armed police in the world.
I know policing is tough but a big man killing a small dog in cold blood is indicative of a mind in turmoil; not someone in control.
I'm sure his colleagues are as relieved he's out of the job as owners of lapdogs the world over!
