Chris Knight... Musician?
So today I began taking dulcimer lessons.
How it came to be that I'm learning to play dulcimer, is a long story. But I think that I'm going to enjoy this.
And if y'all are good, I might eventually post video of me playing it.
It's the strumming "mountain" dulcimer. It only has 3 strings (which is probably as much as someone who's all thumbs like me can handle) but it sure sounds purr-tee!!
Although having listened to a hammered dulcimer I'm wondering if I could learn to play that one too.
I've set a goal for myself, and it may or may not be a good thing: I want to play "Bohemian Rhapsody" on dulcimer while singing. It'll probably get more negative rankings on YouTube than anything in history!! :-P
Seriously though, I'm enjoying this quite much so far. We'll see where it goes.
I would love to see a dulcimer video. They have a beautiful sound. I have never seen/heard Bohemian Rhapsody on one, but I bet it would be pretty cool.
A strumming dulcimer or a hammered dulcimer?
ReplyDeleteLove me some hammered dulcimer, and if the instrument wasn't such a bear to cart around, I'd love to learn it myself.
Enjoy!
