Congrats Duke Blue Devils: 2010 NCAA Men's Basketball Champions!
NCAA Basketball Championship tonight: Butler vs. Duke
Maybe that has a bit to do with the fact that I'm feeling tonight's game is going to be eerily reminiscent of the 1983 NCAA Championship between "invincible" slam-dunk powerhouse Houston and a scrappy little team from North Carolina State coached by an Italian kid from Queens named Jim Valvano.

Score tonight: Duke 82, UNC 50
Look, I'm not all that much of a sports fanatic, but something is seriously off-kilter in this state so far as basketball goes.
As one friend put it a few weeks ago, it's pretty sad when the best team in North Carolina right now is the Bobcats :-P

Remember that woman who accused the Duke lacrosse players of rape?
About a week or so ago a friend brought up the Duke lacrosse case during a conversation, talking about how those players were innocent but even so the notoriety of the case would always hang over them. And he didn't shy away from expressing his disgust about how Crystal Mangum got away unpunished. "Don't worry," I told him. "I saw it happen with O.J. Simpson and too many others. Maybe in ways we'll never even see, she'll get hers eventually."
Nothing else needs to be said...

Well played, Tarheels
So to the Tarheels: congratulations!
(I just don't want to have to make a habit of saying that :-P)

No love lost between Duke and UNC on Facebook
I thought the current standings were pretty funny:
Right now the Tarheels of UNC-Chapel Hill are the top favorite team, followed by the Duke Blue Devils. But in the Despised category, Duke is by far the most hated followed by Carolina, and UNC has almost as many votes as it does in the Favorite chart. Hmmmm...
This might be the most scientific indicator yet of how intense the feud is between Duke and Carolina. Even though it's a routine part of life here in North Carolina, I must admit it's still quite neat to see it reflected in this way.
Oh yeah: GO DUKE!! :-)
