Burger King hassles customers at McDonald's in Rome, Georgia

Police in Rome, Georgia (a town that I have some firsthand knowledge of) are on the lookout for none other than the Burger King himself, who allegedly stood outside the McDonald's restaurant there and commenced to handing out free hamburgers.

From the CBS News story...

Police were called to a local McDonald’s in relation to a disturbance caused by a man dressed as the Burger King.

In a police report provided to the Rome News-Tribune, officers indicated that they were summoned to the fast-food restaurant around 1 p.m. on Monday, in response to a call about a suspicious person on the premises.

The person was allegedly resplendent in full Burger King regalia.

Police stated that, upon his arrival, the Burger King mascot reportedly began to hand out free hamburgers to customers, and stopped to take pictures with several children.

Officers were additionally told that one child ran away from the man in fear, the paper learned.

Only ONE child ran away?! I'm a grown dude and the King wigs even me out.

Might as well have some fun with these pics that I collected last year when Burger King retired their creepy mascot, but haven't used yet...

And even though it's not about King Creepy, this is still too good not to share...

A Tennessee... WHAT?!

Oy vey...

During the next-to-last performance of Theatre Guild of Rockingham County's production of Gypsy this past weekend, I happened to spot this curious visual oddity.

It was just before the show, during "lockdown": when all the actors and actresses are supposed to be sequestered in the makeshift dressing rooms across the hallway from the auditorium we use at Rockingham Community College, so that nobody in the audience spots us in costume before the play or musical starts. Another actor, Michael Olivo (he played Yonkers), had picked up a quick bite to eat at Taco Bell, including a large-sized Mountain Dew.

Okay, this is a seriously stylized Mountain Dew logo. I doubt that whoever designed it, meant for it to have any hidden meaning... which makes this all the more funny!

Because when you look at the cup from this angle...

...it looks like it says "Tn Jew". The abbreviated form of "Tennessee Jew".

That sounds like either a bluegrass band, or possibly a member of a soccer team. Or maybe a very, very progressive form of Judaism :-)

Man robs restaurant, calls back to complain about small haul

Crime does not pay. At least it not pay enough for one Atlanta-area robber, who held up a Wendy's and then phoned the restaurant to gripe about how little money he got away with.

From the story at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution...

A man who robbed a Wendy's at gunpoint Saturday night apparently was so upset with his haul that he twice called the restaurant to complain, Atlanta police said.

"Next time there better be more than $586," he said during one call. He made "a similar threat" in the second call, police said.

About 11:15 p.m., a man wearing a ski mask and holding a gun walked up to the drive-through window at the Wendy's at 1940 Piedmont Road, police said. He told an employee to put the cash drawer on the counter.

After grabbing the drawer and running away, the robber discarded the drawer in the bushes at the nearby InTown Suites. Police dusted the drawer for fingerprints. However, the robber was seen wearing yellow gloves at Wendy's.

I've worked in fast food before, and nearly six hundred bucks is quite a lot for one register drawer. How much more was this guy expecting?

FDA sez: Cheerios cereal a drug

Here's the letter from the Food and Drug Administration to General Mills, telling the company that it is marketing its Cheerios cereal as a drug.

The FDA's problem, it seems, is that General Mills is claiming that Cheerios reduce cholesterol too much.

Meanwhile, those damned Enzyte commercials with "Smilin' Bob" continue to broadcast claims of "male enhancement".

I wonder if this means there'll be a run on Cheerios at the grocery stores now. People do not like being told by their government that something is "bad" for them like this, when they have been enjoying it for so long.

Les Misérables: Customers angry after some KFCs can't honor Oprah coupons

I first heard about this on the Twitter feeds earlier this evening and wondered then what this was about. Now we know...

Oprah Winfrey's website ran a promotion with KFC, offering coupons for 24 hours. The coupons were worth two pieces of grilled chicken, two individual side items and a biscuit.

Except several KFCs were reportedly unable to honor the coupons. Some locations said they had run out of chicken and others, for one reason or another, flat-out refused to take the coupons altogether.

Word has reached this blogger of "rioting" (whatever that means: I've seen riots of various degrees in my time) in at least two KFCs, and one restaurant where angry patrons staged a "sit-in" and demanded their chicken.

Parse all of this as you will...

(Hey, I've been wanting to use that Oprah-zilla graphic for a loooong time. Can you blame a guy for jumping on the occasion? :-)

Woman calls 911 three times about Chicken McNuggets

"This is an emergency, my McNuggets are an emergency." That was the rationale proffered by one Latreasa L. Goodman, 27, of Fort Pierce, Florida. Last week Goodman went into a McDonald's restaurant and ordered a 10-piece Chicken McNuggets. She paid the money but was then told that the location was out of McNuggets. The staff offered her a McDouble but she didn't want that.

So Goodman called 911 and reported the "emergency". And not once, but three times. She's now due in court on a charge of misusing the 911 service.

If Goodman caused this much trouble over McNuggets, then thank Heaven she didn't go nuts after being told the McRib had gone away again.

NOT AGAIN! Scantily-clad girls bathe in KFC restaurant sink

What the hell is it with employees bathing in restaurant sinks lately? A few months ago it was "Mr. Unstable" who boneheadedly decided to post a video of himself cleansing in the sink at Burger King in Xenia, Ohio: a stunt that got not only himself but a bunch of others fired.

Now it's the KFC in Anderson, California, where three female employees also took a bath in the sink normally used to clean utensils.

Two of the girls have been fired, and the other has already left on her own. They took several photos of themselves wearing swimsuits while carousing in the steaming-hot water (click here for more 'cuz many of y'all will no doubt be interested anyway) and then posted them on Myspace in a gallery called "KFC Moments".

I don't know which is the more dumb: that they did this to begin with, or that they opted to publicize it.

Hey kids, listen: I've been known to do some outrageous stunts too (heck I still do, even). But don't do it if it could possibly lead to drastic consequences like losing your employment. If you wanna take some pics and stash them away for years later, when you're safe and you want to show off how much of an idiot you were back in the day, fine... but to show off how much of an idiot you are today is only asking for trouble.

Burger King employee takes bath... in restaurant's sink!

Mr. Unstable's parents are no doubt proud of him...

The Burger King in Xenia, Ohio is minus a bunch of employees and one manager tonight because this guy decided to cleanse himself with a bubble bath in the restaurant's dish sink! The location's operators have thrown out all the utensils that came in contact with "Mr. Unstable", and have said that the sink has been sanitized twice. I've heard at least one person suggest that perhaps the entire Burger King be razed and burned and the ground sown with salt.

If you must (and you probably must) here's the complete video showing the now-unemployed Mr. Unstable taking his bath in the sink...
