Lenten Blogging 2022: Day 18

 I probably wouldn't be so fired-up ANGRY about this if I hadn't been a swimmer in high school...

Above you see a photo of Emma Weyant.  She's been a swimmer on University of Virginia's team.  She also earned silver as an individual during the Olympics.  And in a sane world she SHOULD be recognized as the top women's swimmer in America.

Instead that recognition goes to someone who was ranked 500-something last year in men's swimming.  And then "Lia Thomas" (real name William Thomas) decided that he was a woman.  Even more so, that he was eligible to compete in women's swimming.  And the University of Pennsylvania decided to indulge him that fantasy.

"Lia" proceeded to blast all competition out of the water (almost literally speaking).  With the musculature and endurance of a male biology, no woman has been able to compete with Thomas.  It has been as lopsided a competition as there has ever been.  He has become the number one ranked women's swimmer in the country.

"Lia Thomas" has made a complete joke out of the sport of swimming.  I'm not saying that Thomas shouldn't be swimming at all but he is a MAN and he should be swimming against OTHER MEN.

Thankfully, it seems that more people than not are supporting Emma Weyant and recognizing her as the one true women's swimming champion.

World's scariest swimming pool...

...will make you think you're swimming over the edge of the world itself:

55 stories above the streets of Singapore, the Sands Skypark in Singapore provides a swimming pool, casino and greenway held aloft by three skyscrapers. The skypark is almost 1,250 feet long and the pool itself is 500 feet long.

What happens if you go over the side of the pool? You and the water get safely dumped into a basin that pumps the water back up to the pool. You, presumably, will have to walk up stairs or take an elevator back up to swimming altitude.

MICHAEL PHELPS GETS SEVENTH!

WOW!

1/100th of a second ahead of Croatia's Milorad Cavic.

If there's a single moment that will be remembered from the Beijing Olympics, that will be it. We've been re-watching it at least a half-dozen times in slow-mo the past few minutes, and... just amazing, man!

He's now tied Mark Spitz's record of most gold medals during a single Olympiad. And tomorrow, Phelps might have one more for his collection.

Michael Phelps's secret? 12,000 calorie a day diet

And no, there is not an extra "0" in that number.

The New York Post reports on the special diet that has Michael Phelps breaking swimming records like nobody's business at the Olympics. The guy is on a staggering twelve thousand calories a day eating regimen. A typical person usually takes in around 6000 calories every day. Phelps has been nearing that amount with each meal! Mostly lots of carbohydrate-rich fare like pasta.

The boy better figure in some Wheaties too if he wants to have his picture on the front of their cereal box :-P

Scratch that: Michael Phelps now has FIVE gold medals (and 11 overall!)

Right after my last post, Michael Phelps shattered another world record and earned his fifth gold medal at the Beijing Olympics. That's now eleven gold medals overall across two Olympiads, firmly cementing his place as the winningest Olympic competitor ever.

If he goes on winning gold in the rest of his events, Phelps will not only make his own record all the more unreachable but he'll break Mark Spitz's record of having earned seven gold medals in a single Olympiad.

Do it, dude!
